SANTO DOMINGO.– According to the bulletin of the National Statistics Office (ONE), in July 2023, the Direct Housing Construction Cost Index (ICDV) averaged 216.87, registering a decrease of -2.68 points, compared to the previous month which was 219.55, one of the lowest averages in recent months.
By cost group, the largest decrease was in materials, with a monthly change of -1.47%, and by cost subgroup, the largest decrease was in paint, with a drop of -6.14%.
The ICDV (Index of Construction Costs) registered a monthly change of -1.22%. This result is lower compared to the same period of the previous year, which was 0.82%, according to the agency's report.
By type of housing, the ICDV was 219.19 for single-family housing with one level; 218.97 for single-family housing with two levels; 214.20 for multi-family housing with four levels; and 215.13 for multi-family housing with eight levels or more.
By cost groups, the main decrease was in materials, with -1.47%, and the main increase was in tools, with 3.24%, and machinery, with 0.58%.
By cost subgroups, the main decreases are shown in paint, with -6.14%; PVC pipes and parts, with -6.05%; wood, with -4.49%; and wires, nails, zinc, and others, with -3.79%.
While the main increases were seen in tools, with 3.24%; followed by vaults and electric generators, with 1.79%.
