LA ROMANA. –The Government announced this Thursday that it will invest more than 190 million pesos in the construction of sidewalks and curbs in different sectors of the province of La Romana, one of the tourist centers of the East of the country.
Deligne Ascención, the official in charge of the MOPC, Ministry of Public Works and Communications, states that the sectors that will benefit are Villa San Carlos, Barrio George, as well as the municipalities of Guaymate and Villa Hermosa.
“Next week we will begin an investment in sidewalks and curbs, which should exceed 190 million pesos, and will cover the different districts that make up the province of La Romana, and the most important aspect, finding a solution to the connectivity of the province,” the minister declared.
Ascención, who toured various points in the province alongside local authorities, analyzed projects and initiatives for its benefit, such as traffic solutions, changes in the direction of roads, expansion of highways, enabling and reconstruction of access to beaches, return lanes, construction of pedestrian bridges, among others.
“We have been looking at proposals and initiatives aimed at solving connectivity problems, and giving La Romana an immediate solution, but above all guaranteeing the sustainability of the development of this entire large urban environment that the province will represent,” he stated.
He added that the MOPC is seeking to achieve a comprehensive solution for the connectivity of La Romana, due to the potential it represents, including the communities of La Caleta and Villa Hermosa.
The investment allocated for the construction of sidewalks and curbs in the community of Villa Hermosa is 50 million pesos.
The MOPC stated that it will focus on various work fronts to simultaneously impact different neighborhoods, whose work, it assures, will contribute to the development of tourism in La Romana, attracting investment from hotel chains and other services destined for that sector.
Ascención was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Road Infrastructure of the MOPC, Elías Santana; the head of the Department of Studies and Designs of Road Projects, Ana María de la Cruz; the president of the Strategic Development Plan of La Romana, Bienvenido Santana Güílamo, among others.
