SANTO DOMINGO.- The Codiano Institutional Committee (CIC) held its announced sit-in yesterday in front of the Ministry of Finance, where they were promised that next week its main incumbent, José Manuel (Jochi) Vicente, will receive them to talk.
Architect Emiliano Familia told El Inmobiliario that the Treasury informed him that the official could not receive the delegation because he is out of the country, and they promised that upon his arrival next week, he will receive the professionals who are demanding that the State pay them the debt incurred for the construction of state works, in their capacity as contractors.
He declared that if the authorities fail to meet with them, they will protest again in front of the state agency and will not stop until they collect what the State owes them.
While the axe goes back and forth, the plaintiffs filed a communication addressed to the minister, in case he "has not yet read the newspapers or is unaware of the facts," so that he may become aware of the claims that the professionals have maintained for 26 years.

“New governments assume the assets and liabilities of previous governments. That is why we are requesting that the government headed by President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona fulfill the oath he took before the country to respect and enforce the constitution and the laws,” the contractors stated in the communication delivered yesterday to the Ministry of Finance.
The letter is signed by engineers Nelson Núñez, Ovidio Rosario, and Aníbal Rincón; and architect Emiliano Familia, who state that “We are demanding payment of RD$385,000,000,000 from this Ministry, under the understanding that President Abinader authorized this institution to honor said debt.”.
They state that against “this group of professionals in engineering, architecture and small construction companies, an abuse of power is being committed, because the sacred constitutional principle of the continuity of the State is being violated.”.
They add that Article 38 of the Constitution, regarding respect for human dignity, is also being violated. “Law 3143 on work performed but not paid for and Law 340-06 on procurement and contracting are also being violated.”.
