SANTO DOMINGO.– The Association of Housing Builders and Developers (ACOPROVI) and the Colombian Chamber of Construction (CAMACOL) have begun the process of identifying opportunities for cooperation and exchange of experiences, best practices and innovation in the housing construction sector, within the framework of sustainability and the urban agenda.
The agreement being promoted between the two nations seeks to identify opportunities to take on similar challenges in the construction sector of both countries.
During a visit by a Dominican delegation to representatives of the South American country, both entities made progress in consolidating a framework for joint collaboration, with the aim of promoting a transformation in the current vision of housing construction in both countries.
Another focus was exploring growth opportunities for the sector, at the local and regional level, according to a press release from ACOPROVI.
“As an industry association, we have a vision of adopting much more sustainable practices in the sector's operations. And with CAMACOL, we are taking steps toward an alliance that will benefit the work of both organizations in our respective countries,” said Annerys Meléndez, president of ACOPROVI.
He explained that both delegations are taking an in-depth look at the various successful models of large-scale housing development that allow for improved access to housing, reduced housing deficit, and enhanced opportunities for growth in the housing construction sector.
Other points discussed by the two institutions included innovation and technologies, new construction trends, including Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Similarly, alternatives were proposed for the technical training of construction workers, as well as the implementation of sustainable construction certification programs.
ACOPROVI was established on March 13, 1997. Its main objective is to regulate and promote the development of the construction and housing industries in the country.
CAMACOL, for its part, is a non-profit national trade association that brings together companies and individuals involved in the construction value chain. It has been operating in the Colombian market for over 60 years.
