Announcement that the Government will eliminate incomplete applications from the Happy Housing Plan generates reaction through social networks

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Government's announcement that, starting August 12th, it will delete all incomplete applications from the "My Happy Home" Plan database every 24 hours, has generated a reaction from applicants who argue that they have been pre-selected for up to two years without receiving any answers.

“Starting August 12, all incomplete applications will be automatically deleted every 24 hours. Don’t miss out,” says a post on the website and Instagram account of the program, which is aimed at providing low-cost housing.

“But I’ve been on the waiting list for two years, which means my form was submitted, but they haven’t given me an answer,” was Rosa Marina Peña’s reaction to the post published on Instagram.

The #pfamiliafelizrd account states that they are updating their database, so it is necessary to complete the form immediately. "Without all the required information, we cannot process your request," it says.

“Two years on the eligibility list and still nothing,” said Giovanna Sánchez. “That’s what those applications have been good for,” David Fernández emphasized.

“But for God’s sake, I’ve been pre-selected for a year now and still nothing. I have my initial application somewhere, just waiting for the day,” wrote Isaura Medina. “They ask for her information on WhatsApp and she never responds,” added a person identified as Delys Saber by Gourmet.

“I’ve been waiting a long time, despite leaving foster care and having a child with special needs. Every time I call, they just tell me I’m on the waiting list. I trust in God first, and then in our President Luis Abinader and the authorized personnel to receive that long-awaited call. I haven’t lost faith,” wrote Raquel de Jesús.

"What's the number, please? I've been on the eligibility list for two years," asked Nancy Reinoso.

The post was put up six days ago and has 194 comments and 451 likes.

They don't answer calls

Camel Curi, Deputy Minister of Investment Projects for the Happy Family National Housing Plan, told Diario Libre that 80% of the people who filled out the form to acquire a low-cost home do not answer their phones when contacted by the entity to process the application.

He cited cases of forms that do not have phone numbers, applicants who changed their contact number, or who simply do not answer calls.

"We have received 600,000 applications, thousands without a phone number, and eighty percent do not answer the calls... I have units ready in the Eastern Zone where it takes me two months to get clients, looking for clients, because I call and I cannot communicate," he lamented.

Curi explained that many of the people who complain about the time they spend on the platform without being contacted are doing so because of this problem, and that the Happy Family platform is being restructured to improve communication with applicants. He urged them to complete their application form, as otherwise, staff cannot view the document to process the request.

"We are already updating our database, and starting August 12, all incomplete applications will be automatically deleted every 24 hours," he said, urging those aspiring to own their first home not to be left out.

He also invited applicants who have been waiting a long time to call the *462 hotline or go to one of the citizen service centers for more information.

To date, through Vivienda Feliz, the Government has delivered 1,200 housing units and 8,000 are under construction, 2,000 of these will be delivered in December.

He pointed out that in the last eight months the situation regarding construction materials has been regulating, which has allowed the Government to increase the delivery of homes.
