SANTO DOMINGO.- The use of face masks, temperature checks, social distancing, and the application of disinfectant gel continue to be the main prevention measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus in major shopping centers; however, presenting a vaccination card is not a priority.
It is reminded that since October 17th it is necessary to show the vaccination card in public and private spaces for public use, with at least two doses; from January 31st, it will be necessary to demonstrate the inoculation of the booster vaccine or third dose.
Listín Diario states that during a tour of the centers, it observed the requirement of masks inside the stores and the taking of temperature as essential requirements to access but not the request for the vaccination card.
These measures continue to be used at the entrances of some supermarkets and shopping centers in this Dominican capital.
While some Santo Domingo Metro stations also require you to present your vaccination card physically or simply a photo, specifically at the Freddy Beras Goico station located on John F. Kennedy Avenue.
Some citizens go to the different alcohol or disinfectant dispensers that are embedded in the wall inside the establishments or at the entrances.
Others ignore the measure for the sake of speed; however, they maintain social distancing from other people and the permanent use of masks, although some unconsciously remove them to talk on the phone.
The distance that users must keep is marked on the floor, which further encourages order, for example, when paying, avoiding crowds at the checkouts.
In addition, there are various signs throughout the hallways to remind people of the preventative measures to be taken. Although these signs are rarely read, their color or design draws attention, achieving the goal of at least being directly visible.
