SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) reported yesterday the resumption of regular flights that had been suspended due to the winter storm that affected the Eastern United States and several Canadian cities in recent days.
The interim director general of IDAC, Héctor Porcella, revealed that all international airports in the country reported the normalization of flight flow with cities in the United States and Canada where restrictions on aeronautical operations had been registered due to the atmospheric phenomenon.
“The information we have received since the early hours of this Tuesday is that the cold storm has begun to weaken in both the United States and Canada, facilitating the normalization of flights connecting the Dominican Republic with those countries,” Porcella noted.
He indicated that due to weather conditions there is no situation affecting the entry and exit of passengers at national airports, which in his opinion is very good news for Dominican tourism and its goal of exceeding the historic figure of 7 million tourists in 2022.
“Despite the cancellation of 39 flights from the United States and Canada since last Thursday, the Dominican Republic is on track to register the highest number of aeronautical operations in the month of December and throughout the year, as we had announced in the recent past,” noted the interim head of the IDAC.
