These are the activities for the 60th anniversary of CODIA (part one)

SANTO DOMINGO.- “Contributing to the Development and Sustainability of the Country” is the slogan of the campaign designed by CODIA, the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors, to celebrate the commemorative activities for the 60th anniversary of the entity.

A massive program of events will take place from January 7th to 15th of next year, with a varied schedule of events including recreation, training, tributes, awards, parties, lunches, among others.

At 9:00 AM on Saturday the seventh, the celebration will begin at the Indotel Auditorium in the Colonial City with the Sixth National Assembly of Representatives.

Simultaneously, an exhibition and services hall will be inaugurated in the Spanish Courtyard of CODIA, where a module for obtaining a driver's license and learner's permit will be located, a second one for health and services, a station for vaccines against COVID-19 and influenza; another for general medicine, sonography, dentistry and ophthalmology.

In addition, there will be an orchid exhibit and a hydroponic gardening display. A luncheon will be held that same day at 1:00 PM at CODIA.

On Sunday the 8th, the Colonial City cultural rally will take place at the CODIA headquarters at 7:00 AM, and at the organization's Club, the inauguration of a sports competition of chess, dominoes, billiards, among other disciplines.

That same day, at the Montesino court, at 9:00 AM there will be a basketball competition; at 1:30 PM lunch and at 3:00 PM a family afternoon with the delivery of gifts to the children of the members.

On Monday the ninth at 7:00 PM in the Spanish Courtyard of CODIA there will be a typical evening with the folkloric ballet, artistic presentation and typical buffet to welcome the national and international guests.

On Tuesday the 10th, the day will begin at nine in the morning and end at five in the afternoon. It begins with the conference "Territorial Planning Plan of Greater Santo Domingo," in the Max Henríquez Ureña auditorium at UNPHU, featuring architects Domingo Matías, Waldys Taveras, Amín Abel Hasbun, Elmer González, Julián Roa, Marcos Barinas, and Omar Rancier.

In the afternoon of that day there will be a panel on the development of real estate markets in integrated economic zones led by architects Jorge Montalvo and Elias Katime; a dialogue on territorial development, Colombian experience with architect Francisco Beltrán and another on the same topic but Dominican version with architect Priscilla Camargo Serrano.

At 4:30 PM that same Tuesday, Omar Rancier will give a lecture on the life and work of architect Guillermo González Sánchez. The day will conclude with a tribute to former presidents of CODIA and other distinguished architects.
