The ceremony was held in Krakow, Poland, during the ACI Customer Experience Global Summit in partnership with Amadeus, in the presence of more than 500 senior airport executives, representatives of civil aviation authorities, airport specialists and related business executives.
Landside operations director Alberto Smith received the awards on behalf of the airport from Elena Ávila, Executive VP Airport IT and Airline Operations at Amadeus, and Luis Felipe de Oliveiras, Director General of the Airports Council International (ACI). The award recognized the airport as the “Best Airport by Size and Region” in the 5 to 15 million passenger category in the Caribbean and Latin America, and for the second consecutive year also received the certification for “Best Hygiene Measures by Region” implemented for the prevention of Covid-19.
“The Airports Council International’s (ACI) ASQ Awards recognize members who have prioritized listening to and responding to the voice of the customer; this has never been more important,” Oliveira said.
Punta Cana International Airport is the first airport in the country to achieve this recognition and maintain it for six consecutive years, establishing itself as one of the top 10 airports in Latin America and the most important in the insular Caribbean.
