SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close several structures in Greater Santo Domingo, including overpasses and bridges, to vehicular traffic from Monday, March 11th until Saturday, March 16th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
The Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel (UASD tunnel) will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, from Monday to Friday, pressure washing and solid waste collection will be applied to the 'New Jersey' type walls of Las Américas Avenue.
On Monday, maintenance will be carried out on the Santo Domingo-Samaná highway overpass, the Núñez de Cáceres Avenue tunnel, the 27 de Febrero Avenue overpass, and the Juan Bosch and Juan Pablo Duarte bridges.
This Tuesday, the following will be closed: the underpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Tiradentes, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill Avenues, the underpass at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Avenue with Máximo Gómez and Ortega y Gasset Avenues, and the Las Américas tunnel.
Maintenance will be carried out on the overpass of the 30 de Mayo highway (Kilometer 12) on Wednesday and Friday.
On Wednesday there will also be closures on the overpasses of John F. Kennedy Avenue with Lope de Vega, Tiradentes and Lincoln Avenues, the Gregorio Luperón and Francisco J. Peynado bridges, and the underpasses of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Defilló, Carmen Mendoza de Cornielle, Núñez de Cáceres and Privada Avenues.
On Thursday, the overpasses at 27 de Febrero Avenue with Ortega y Gasset, Duarte Highway with Sánchez Street (Piedra Blanca); the underpasses at 25 de Febrero Avenue with España, with the Columbus Lighthouse, San Vicente de Paul, San Isidro Highway, and Las Américas West marginal road will be closed.
Also, the overpasses of the highway to San Isidro with marginal Las Américas and with Las Américas, and the Floating Bridge.
On Friday, the closure will be on the overpasses of the Jubey-Boca Chica highway, Santo Domingo-Samaná, the overpasses of the Las Américas highway with the road to the port of Caucedo, José Francisco Peña Gómez (Boca Chica), streets 7 and 6 (La Caleta), with Route 66, Hípica avenue and the new Las Américas overpass.
On Saturday, there will be closures at the overpasses on San Vicente de Paul Avenue intersecting the Las Américas and Venezuela highways, and at the Plaza de la Bandera overpasses, Los Reyes Católicos Avenue with Respaldo 42, Zoo Avenue and Ramón Cáceres Avenue.
Electrical maintenance will also be performed on the control centers of the tunnels of UASD, 27 de Febrero and Las Américas.
