SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that it will close several structures in Greater Santo Domingo, including overpasses and bridges, to vehicular traffic from Tuesday, May 21st to Saturday, May 25th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times will be between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am the following day.
The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, and lower area.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the closure will be for the underpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero and Núñez de Cáceres avenues.
Meanwhile, maintenance will be carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday in the tunnel on Avenida Las Américas, between Venezuela and Sabana Larga.
On Tuesday, the overpasses on John F. Kennedy Avenue with Doctor Defilló and Núñez de Cáceres, and the underpass on 27 de Febrero with Tiradentes, will be closed.
Maintenance will be carried out on Wednesday and Thursday on the overpass at the intersection of Konrad Adenauer and Hermanas Mirabal avenues, according to a press release from the entity.
Wednesday will also see the closure of the overpasses at 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló, Carmen Mendoza and Privada, and the Las Américas marginal road with Las Américas avenue.
Also, on the John F. Kennedy overpasses with Lope de Vega, Tiradentes and Abraham Lincoln, and the Las Américas marginal tunnel.
On Thursday, the overpasses at 27 de Febrero Avenue with Ortega y Gasset, Marginal Las Américas with Estados Unidos Avenue (Los Tres Ojos), and John F. Kennedy with Ortega y Gasset will be completely closed.
The same applies to the overpasses at John F. Kennedy Avenue with Máximo Gómez, Charles de Gaulle Avenue with Ecológica and Marginal Las Américas, and the Juan Carlos Bridge.
Friday corresponds to the overpasses of the Las Américas highway with streets 7, 6 (La Caleta) and José Francisco Peña Gómez (Boca Chica), with the road to Puerto de Caucedo, entrance of Andrés, Boca Chica, Route 66 (both directions), and the Hípica avenue.
Also, the overpasses on the Jubey – Boca Chica highway and the Santo Domingo – Samaná highway, the Jacinto Peynado bridge, and the control center of the Las Américas, Ortega y Gasset (UASD) tunnels and the long tunnel of the 27 de Febrero avenue.
Meanwhile, on Saturday the 25th, the overpasses of the Expreso Quinto Centenario with the streets Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle, and the overpass of Avenida Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando will be closed.
