SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Monday, February 3rd to Saturday, February 8th, for maintenance purposes.
MOPC brigades will collect solid waste, aggregates, control weeds, clean the surroundings and drainage, both in lower and interior areas.
Closing times begin at 10:00 PM and will continue until work is completed.
From Monday to Wednesday, the overpass at the intersection of Charles de Gaulle Avenue and the San Isidro highway will be closed.
Maintenance will also be performed on the John F. Kennedy Avenue overpass at Núñez de Cáceres on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Only on Monday will the Jacobo Majluta bridge (over the Isabela River), the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas and Monumental avenues, the tunnel of Núñez de Cáceres avenue, and the Jacobo Majluta underpasses with La Isabela road be closed.
Likewise, at the grade separations of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Independencia, and George Washington.
On Tuesday, the overpasses of Luperón Avenue with 30 de Mayo Highway, John F. Kennedy Avenue with Winston Churchill (in both directions), Charles de Gaulle with Mella Highway, and the highway to San Isidro will be closed.
Maintenance will be carried out on the Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel (UASD) on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, the closure will affect the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero underpasses, and the Máximo Gómez and Duarte avenues; the overpasses on 27 de Febrero avenue with Ortega y Gasset, Máximo Gómez avenue with Nicolás de Ovando, and the bridges over the Ozama River on Charles de Gaulle avenue (which connect Santo Domingo East and North), and the Gregorio Luperón.
Meanwhile, the overpass on Charles de Gaulle Avenue at Mella Road will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the following roads will be closed: the Sánchez highway overpass with Independencia (Kilometer 12), the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, Hermanos Pinzón, and San Martín, the Konrad Adenauer Avenue underpass with Hermanas Mirabal, and the Jacobo Majluta bridge (near the entrance to Guaricanos).
Also in the control centers of the tunnels of Las Américas between Venezuela and Sabana Larga avenues, and 27 de Febrero between Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill.
On Friday, the closures will be for bridges on the 6 de Noviembre highway, Sánchez road, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, and Ramón Matías Mella, the overpasses of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with the 6 de Noviembre highway, and Padre Castellanos avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez avenue, and the overpass of the Duarte highway with Duarte street (Los Alcarrizos).
On Saturday, the following locations will be affected: the John F. Kennedy Expressway overpass with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, República de Colombia, the dry bridge at Kilometer 14, and San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela.
