SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close 49 overpass structures, including bridges and elevated sections, located in Greater Santo Domingo from Monday, January 22nd until Saturday, January 27th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closure times are from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day. Some of the works involve the complete closure of the roads, while others will have partial closures.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control and washing of the "New Jersey" type central wall of the Las Américas highway.
This Monday the closures correspond to the overpasses or dry bridges of the avenues Mirador Sur with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Núñez with Independencia, and with George Washington, Jacobo Majluta avenue with La Isabela road.
Also, the tunnels of Núñez de Cáceres and Ortega y Gasset avenues, the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas avenue (entrance to Manoguayabo), Duarte with Monumental (entrance to Los Girasoles), Jacobo Majluta bridge, Luperón overpass with 30 de Mayo highway.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the following road closures will be in effect: Duarte Highway with Duarte Street (entrance to Los Alcarrizos), Luperón with 30 de Mayo, Charles de Gaulle with the highway to San Isidro, Charles de Gaulle with Mella Road, Sánchez Road with Independencia (kilometer 12), the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, 27 de Febrero with Privada, kilometer 13 of the Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 (dry bridge), kilometer 13 Duarte with República de Colombia Avenue, kilometer 14 Duarte Highway.
The overpass at Quinto Centenario and Hermanos Pinzón will be closed from Wednesday through Friday.
Also, on Wednesday the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges, the Máximo Gómez overpass with Nicolas de Ovando, the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD), the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero underpasses, Máximo Gómez, Juan Pablo Duarte (dry bridge), and 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes will be closed.
This Thursday the closures correspond to the overpasses of the Sánchez highway with Independencia (kilometer 12), Expreso Quinto Centenario with Duarte Avenue, with Hermanos Pinzón, and with San Martín, the Konrad Adenauer Avenue (Charles de Gaulle) underpass, with Hermanas Mirabal, Jacobo Majluta bridge near Guaricano entrance, and Núñez de Cáceres tunnel,
The Ortega y Gasset (UASD), Las Américas and 27 de Febrero tunnel control centers will be closed on Friday, January 26.
Also, on Friday there will be closures to the bridges of the 6 de Noviembre highway; Sánchez road, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, Ramon Matías Mella, the overpass of Padre Castellanos avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez (dry bridge), the overpasses of Winston Churchill with John F. Kennedy (South-West), Kennedy with Winston Churchill (East-South).
On Saturday the 27th, there will be closures at the overpasses or dry bridges of the John F. Kennedy Expressway at Luperón (Kilometer 9), kilometer 13 of Duarte at Prolongación 27, kilometer 13 of Duarte at Avenida República de Colombia, kilometer 14 of Duarte, and San Vicente de Paul at Avenida Venezuela.
