SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close several structures in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Monday, March 4th until Saturday, March 9th, including overpasses and bridges, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
The Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel (UASD tunnel) is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Maintenance will be carried out on the Duarte Highway overpass at Monumental Avenue on Monday and Thursday.
This Monday, the tunnel on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue will be closed, as well as the overpasses at Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia Avenue; Núñez de Cáceres Avenue with Cayetano Germosén Avenue, Independencia Avenue and George Washington Avenue, and Jacobo Majluta Avenue with La Isabela Highway.
Also the Jacobo Majluta bridge over the La Isabela river, the Duarte highway overpass at Los Beisbolistas avenue.
While this Tuesday there will be closures at the underpass of the 27 de Febrero avenues with Tiradentes, and the overpasses of Charles de Gaulle with Mella road and highway to San Isidro, Luperón with 30 de Mayo, Winston Churchill with Kennedy (in both directions).
On Wednesday, the closures correspond to the overpasses of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Ortega y Gasset, Expreso Quinto Centenario with Duarte Avenue, San Martín Avenue and Hermanos Pinzón Street.
The underpass at the intersection of Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero avenues, as well as the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges, will also be closed.
The following closures are scheduled for Thursday the 7th: the overpasses on the Sánchez highway with Independencia (Kilometer 12), Máximo Gómez Avenue with Nicolás de Ovando, the Jacobo Majluta bridge (entrance to Guaricanos), and the underpasses on Máximo Gómez Avenue with Duarte, and Konrad Adenauer with Hermanas Mirabal.
On Friday, the closure will be at the overpasses of Padre Castellanos Avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Avenue and Prolongación 27 de Febrero Avenue with the 6 de Noviembre Highway; the Duarte Highway overpass with Duarte Street (entrance to Los Alcarrizos), the Ramón Matías Mella Bridge, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Bridge, the 6 de Noviembre Highway and the Sánchez Highway.
Electrical maintenance work will also be carried out at the Las Américas tunnel control center.
On Saturday, March 9, there will be closures at the John F. Kennedy Expressway overpasses with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), on the Duarte Highway with Republic of Colombia Avenue, Prolongación 27 de Febrero, and at the dry bridge at kilometer 14, and San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela.
