SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various structures located in Greater Santo Domingo, including overpasses and bridges, from Tuesday, December 26th until Saturday, December 30th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
From Tuesday through Friday, solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, and washing of the "New Jersey" type central wall of the Las Américas highway will be carried out.
Also, this Tuesday and until Thursday there will be a total closure of the underpass of Avenida 27 de Febrero with Calle Carmen Mendoza and Doctor Fernando Defilló; the overpasses of Avenida Luperón with Calle 30 de Mayo, and the Duarte highway with the entrance to Los Alcarrizos.
Similarly, the Charles de Gaulle overpass with San Isidro, Charles with Mella road, the grade separations or dry bridges of Kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, and Kilometer 14 of the Duarte, and Kilometer 13 with República de Colombia avenue.
This Wednesday the closures correspond to the Máximo Gómez overpass with Nicolas de Ovando, the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges, the Ortega y Gasset tunnel, the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero underpasses, Máximo Gómez with Juan Pablo Duarte Avenue (dry bridge).
On Thursday, the closure affects the overpasses of the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12); Quinto Centenario with Juan Pablo Duarte, with Hermanos Pinzón, and with San Martín Avenue; the Jacobo Majluta bridge near the entrance of Guaricano, the Konrad Adenauer Avenue underpass (Charles De Gaulle with Hermanas Mirabal).
In the areas of the structures, the work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and collection of aggregates, weed control, general cleaning of the environment, and drainage cleaning.
For Friday, the closures correspond to the Ramón Matías Mella bridge, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridge, the 6 de Noviembre highway, the overpasses of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with 6 de Noviembre, Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, the Sánchez highway bridge; the Winston Churchill overpass with John F. Kennedy (South-West), Kennedy with Churchill (East-South).
Also, on Friday the closure will apply to the Ortega y Gasset tunnel control center (UASD), and the Las Américas tunnel control center.
On Saturday the 30th, the following closures will take place: overpasses or dry bridges on San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela, John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón (kilometer 9), kilometer 13 of Duarte with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, kilometer 13 with República de Colombia, and kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway.
