SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close 42 structures to vehicular traffic from Monday, July 3rd until Saturday, July 8th, at various overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo, to carry out conditioning work on these structures.
The work includes solid waste collection, sweeping and debris removal, weed control, general cleaning, and drainage, among other tasks. Closing hours will be from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
On Monday and Tuesday, maintenance will be carried out on the underpass at the intersection of Avenida 27 de Febrero with Calle Defilló and Calle Carmen Mendoza de Cornielle. Work will also be done on the tunnel connecting Avenida Abraham Lincoln and Avenida Churchill, but it will not require closure.
On Monday night, the road closures include the Juan Bosch and Duarte bridges; and the 27 de Febrero overpass.
On Tuesday there will be a total closure of the underpasses at 27 de Febrero Avenue with Tiradentes and John F. Kennedy with Máximo Gómez; the Kennedy overpass with Ortega y Gasset and the Las Américas tunnel.
On Wednesday, the following will be closed: the underpasses on Avenida 27 de Febrero with Defilló, Carmen Mendoza and Núñez de Cáceres; and the overpass on John F. Kennedy with Lope de Vega, Tiradentes and Lincoln; and the Jacinto Peynado and Gregorio Luperón bridges.
For three days, Wednesday through Friday, the underpass at 27 de Febrero Avenue and Privada will undergo metal railing painting and there will be a closure to traffic in both directions.
The conditioning work and total closure will continue Thursday night at the overpasses of the avenues 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez, 25 de Febrero with Avenida España, Faro a Colón, San Vicente de Paul, San Isidro highway and with Marginal Las Américas.
Also on the dry bridges of the San Isidro and Las Américas highways, and Las Américas and Las Américas marginal; the overpasses of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Ortega y Gasset, Duarte Highway with Sánchez Street (Piedra Blanca); and the Floating Bridge.
On Friday, work will be carried out on the overpasses of the Jubey-Boca Chica and Santo Domingo-Samaná highways; the overpasses of the Las Américas highway with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), the Puerto de Caucedo road, with streets 7, 6, Route 66 (in both directions), Hípica avenue, and the new overpass of the Las Américas highway.
On Friday, maintenance will also be performed on the control centers of the Ortega y Gasset Avenue Tunnel (UASD), the Las Américas Tunnel, and the Abraham Lincoln Avenue and Winston Churchill Tunnel.
On Saturday there will be closures at six overpasses: San Vicente de Paúl with Avenida Venezuela and Las Américas, Avenida de Los Reyes Católicos with Respaldo 42, with Avenida del Zoológico and with Ramón Cáceres, and Plaza de la Bandera.
