SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications announced that it will close various structures in Greater Santo Domingo, including overpasses and bridges, to vehicular traffic from Monday, September 23, until Saturday, September 28, in order to carry out maintenance work.
Closing times begin at 10:00 PM and will continue until work is completed in each case.
The participating brigades are involved in solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, both in the lower and interior areas.
The Juan Bosch and Juan Pablo Duarte bridges, as well as the 27 de Febrero overpass, were closed yesterday, Monday.
On Monday and Tuesday there will be a closure on the John F. Kennedy overpass at Ortega y Gasset.
Tuesday only affects the long tunnel on 27 de Febrero Avenue (between Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill), and the Kennedy overpass with Máximo Gómez.
The Las Américas tunnel will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the closures will be for the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló and Carmen Mendoza; 27 with Núñez de Cáceres and Privada, the overpasses of John F. Kennedy with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, and Kennedy with Lincoln, the Francisco J Peynado and Gregorio Luperón bridges, the overpass or dry bridge of the marginal Las Américas Oeste with the 27 de Febrero avenue.
On Thursday, the closures will affect the underpasses or dry bridges of Avenida 25 de Febrero with Avenida España, 25 with Faro a Colón, 25 with San Vicente de Paul, the San Isidro highway with 25 de Febrero, the Las Américas West marginal with 25 de Febrero, and San Isidro with Las Américas, Las Américas with the Las Américas marginal.
Also, on Thursday the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, Duarte highway with Sánchez street (Piedra Blanca), the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Tiradentes and Máximo Gómez, the Floating Bridge.
On Friday, the following overpasses will be closed: Las Américas with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), Las Américas with Puerto Caucedo road (Caucedo), Las Américas with 7/6 street (La Caleta), Las Américas with Route 66 (East-South), Las Américas with Route 66 (South-West), Las Américas overpass with Hípica, Las Américas (Andrés Boca Chica).
Also, the overpasses on the Jubey-Boca Chica highway, and Santo Domingo towards Samaná; the control centers of the Ortega y Gasset (UASD) and Las Américas tunnels.
On Saturday, the closures will correspond to the underpasses of San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Las Américas, San Vicente with Venezuela, Plaza de la Bandera, Reyes Católicos with Respaldo 42, Reyes Católicos with Avenida Del Zoológico and Reyes Católicos near Avenida Ramón Cáceres.
