SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported this Tuesday afternoon that the tunnel connecting Ortega y Gasset Avenue with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) was closed due to falling concrete particles from the ceiling.
Through his Twitter account, the head of the agency, Deligne Ascención, explained that the particles falling from the infrastructure are from the slab placed on the roof of the road system, known as the UASD tunnel.
"We inform the public that the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), together with the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), has ordered the closure of the tunnel connecting Ortega y Gasset Avenue with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), due to falling concrete particles from the roof slab. We will keep the public duly informed," the statement specifies.
