SANTO DOMINGO.– Banco Popular Dominicano and the public trust RD Vial signed an agreement to offer the bank's customers the possibility of recharging the "Paso Rápido" service through its digital channels, Internet Banking and the Popular App, as well as at the teller areas of its branches nationwide.
In a press release, the financial institution explains that the benefit will apply to recharges for all prepaid and corporate users of "Paso Rápido" and that the alliance adds value to the financial organization's clients, who will be able to travel more quickly and efficiently on the main Dominican highway network with toll stations.
The document explains that Banco Popular will allow its customers to make payments from their savings or checking accounts, or with debit or credit cards, which will be reflected in real time since they will not have to wait to see the balance and use their "Quick Step".
The agreement was signed at the Torre Popular by the executive vice president of Business and Investment of Banco Popular, Mr. Luis E. Espínola, and the general director of RD VIAL, Mr. Jean Luis Rodríguez.
Benefits of a public-private partnership
The executive vice president of Business and Investment at Banco Popular stated that "this is yet another example of how public-private collaboration works for the benefit of society.".
"Without a doubt, this alliance will have a positive impact on our customers and society. We are convinced that it will contribute to increasing the critical mass of people who use our country's toll plazas daily, thus reducing congestion and saving thousands of users time and fuel, as they will no longer have to stop and carry cash.".
Banco Popular's digital leadership, as well as its primacy in the number of cardholders in the financial services market, suggests that the effect of this agreement will have very positive repercussions for thousands of Dominican families and companies that use national toll roads.
For his part, the general manager of RD VIAL stated that "with this alliance we continue to ensure access for all citizens to the Paso Rápido service and the experience of speed and safety, as well as transparency, that it guarantees to those who travel through the country's toll stations.".
"Paso Rápido" is an electronic toll payment service that allows you to travel without using cash. The device is installed on the vehicle's windshield, enabling smooth passage through toll plazas.
