SANTO DOMINGO.– A judge of the Fifth Court of Instruction of the National District issued an order to open a trial against a corporal of the National Police, accused of killing the architect Leslie Massiel Rosado Marte.
Judge Jenny Muñoz sent Corporal Janli Disla Batista to trial to answer for the charges against him, for murdering the professional with a gunshot to the head, who was pregnant at the time of her death.
The incident that shocked and outraged the nation occurred in Boca Chica last October when Leslie was returning with one of her daughters from Boca Chica to the capital after celebrating her father's birthday. She was the daughter of José Rosado, a builder with over 30 years of experience developing projects in the Dominican market.
The court also sent Rafael Castillo Novas (Argenis) to trial for complicity, who was driving the motorcycle in which the police officer chased the victim, after an alleged traffic accident.
The court made the decision by accepting the accusation presented by the Public Ministry and the lawyers Wendy Lora, José Hoepelman and María Cristina Grullón, who represent the family of the victim.
Both defendants are being held in pretrial detention, after the judge of the Permanent Attention Court of Santo Domingo East, Leomar Cruz, issued a coercive measure against the defendants.
The police corporal recounted on that occasion that the murdered architect fled after running him and his family over.
The young professional was a mother of three children and one who was four months in her womb and whom she would name Elias.
