Parking at AILA can be paid for from your cell phone using a QR code

In 2021, electronic payments represented a minority proportion of transactions, while in 2026 they will reach 65%

SANTO DOMINGO.-ERODOM announced yesterday, Wednesday, that it has updated its digital parking payment platform to make the process faster and smoother for passengers, incorporating a unique QR code that is printed on each ticket and allows direct access from the mobile phone to the electronic payment process.

The entity explained that with this update, users only need to scan the QR code on their ticket with their smartphone to access the platform and make the payment quickly and securely with a credit card, simplifying the process that previously required several steps to access the platform, facilitating the user experience and reducing the time needed to complete the transaction.

It notes that the update responds to the growing adoption of digital payment methods by parking users. While in 2021 electronic payments represented a minority proportion of transactions, by 2026 they will reach 65%, becoming the main payment method.

“At AERODOM, we continue to identify opportunities to make our passengers' experience simpler and more seamless. The addition of unique QR codes to tickets allows us to simplify access to digital payments and offer a faster, safer, and more convenient alternative. The sustained growth of this payment method demonstrates that our users increasingly value digital solutions,” said Cyril Girot, CEO of AERODOM.

The platform, explains the company, a member of the VINCI Airports network, is available to users of the short and long stay areas, as well as the premium parking at AILA, noting that the update is part of its efforts to incorporate digital solutions that facilitate processes and improve the passenger experience at the airport.

As part of this initiative, AERODOM is offering a 5% discount on digital parking payments for tickets up to RD$1,000, a benefit that will be valid until December 25, 2026, with the aim of encouraging the use of this alternative.

This adds to other improvements

AERODOM specifies that the modernization of the payment system complements the improvements made to the AILA parking lot, whose capacity was expanded from 320 to 1,813 spaces in 2024 to meet growing demand. These improvements also include the installation of LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, and digital signage, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable operation.

Las Américas International Airport (AILA), located approximately 30 minutes from Santo Domingo, is one of the country's main air gateways and a strategic hub for the Dominican Republic's connectivity with the Caribbean, North America, Latin America, and Europe. AERODOM and VINCI Airports are implementing a comprehensive investment plan to strengthen its capacity and prepare it for the growth in air traffic expected in the coming years. This plan includes a major runway rehabilitation, a new terminal valued at over RD$24 billion (US$400 million), and a new baggage handling system (BHS) for the existing terminal, the statement concludes.
