Tour operators and wholesalers meet in Bayahibe to boost domestic tourism

SANTO DOMINGO.– Strengthening the marketing of hotel offerings and stimulating domestic tourism were the main objectives of a meeting that brought together tour operators and wholesalers from the local market with representatives of Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham, in a day focused on generating new business opportunities and maintaining hotel occupancy throughout the year.

The event, held in a familiarization day format , allowed participants to return to a hotel that many hadn't visited in a long time. The aim was to refresh their knowledge of the hotel in a context where domestic tourism represents a way to maintain occupancy throughout the year.

“The local market is strategic for Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham, and it’s also a hotel that has always enjoyed high interest. This event allows us to strengthen our relationship with our business partners and expand sales opportunities for the property,” said Cynthia Delgado, Local Market Sales Executive at Viva Resorts.

The initiative also responds to the need to expand distribution channels and strengthen relationships with agencies that serve Dominican travelers. The guests were selected based on their production levels, sales potential, and the alignment of their client portfolios with the property profile, according to a press release.

During the visit, they toured the Superior, Superior Plus, and Superior Ocean View room categories, as well as the restaurants, bars, pools, theater, gym, kids' club, beach, and recreational areas. The itinerary also included a look at the entertainment program, the activities of the animation team, and the Viva Vibe parties that set the daily rhythm of the resort.

Increase reserves

The event was held in anticipation of August and September, a period in which the chain aims to increase bookings from the Dominican Republic. Rather than simply presenting a catalog of services, the objective was to allow tour operators to experience the hotel firsthand and then more accurately convey that experience to their clients.

“We wanted participants to tour the resort, connect with its offerings, and be able to recommend it with the confidence that comes from having experienced it firsthand. The goal is for them to revisit the property, experience it in person, and find new reasons to include it in their portfolio,” said Rosa González, the company’s Market Sales Executive.
