SANTO DOMINGO– Pamela Núñez is a lawyer and founder of Canablue Real Estate Punta Cana. She has 13 years of experience in the real estate sector, seven of which she has dedicated to promoting foreign investment in properties. Why do you work in real estate?
I work in the tourism real estate sector because of my deep passion for sharing the beauty and potential of the Dominican Republic with foreign investors. Every transaction represents an opportunity for me to show them what this destination has to offer and how they can benefit from investing here. The possibility of contributing to my clients' success and satisfaction is my constant motivation.
How do you feel when you sell a house?
Real estate must be the best job in the world, because when a transaction is completed, all parties involved, without exception, are happy. It's a shared joy between the seller, the buyer, and the agents involved. Seeing our clients find their perfect home or make a significant investment is incredibly rewarding.
How do you think your career contributes to the sector?
My contribution to the real estate sector focuses on developing the local market through my experience as a buyer's agency working with foreign investors. This allows me to adapt international strategies and raise industry standards. Furthermore, my values of service, honesty, and inclusivity guide every transaction, ensuring ethical and professional handling.
What are the current challenges of the career?
The sector faces significant challenges, highlighting the urgent need for legislation that provides clarity and protection for professionals and clients. Informality, especially in areas like Punta Cana, has allowed individuals without proper training to call themselves brokers, creating unfair competition and negatively impacting the quality of service. To address these challenges, it is essential to establish legislation that regulates and standardizes industry practices, offering greater legal certainty to all stakeholders.
