SANTO DOMINGO- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various structures in Greater Santo Domingo, including overpasses and bridges, from Tuesday, February 20th until Saturday, February 24th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, maintenance will be carried out on the overpasses of John F. Kennedy Avenue with Tiradentes, Lope de Vega and Ortega y Gasset avenues.
The overpasses on Charles de Gaulle Avenue with Mella Highway and the San Isidro Highway, Luperón Avenue with 30 de Mayo, and the Duarte Highway entrance to Los Alcarrizos will be closed this Tuesday.
On Tuesday and Saturday, the overpasses at kilometers 13 and 14 of the Duarte highway will be closed; the intersection with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, Avenida República de Colombia and the dry bridge.
The John F. Kennedy Avenue overpass at Abraham Lincoln will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
This Wednesday, the following road closures will take place: the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero avenues, the Máximo Gómez and Juan Pablo Duarte avenues (dry bridge); the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges; and the Máximo Gómez and Nicolás de Ovando avenue overpasses.
On Thursday, the closures correspond to the overpasses of the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12), the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, San Martín Avenue and Hermanos Pinzón Street; the overpass of Konrad Adenauer Avenue (Charles de Gaulle) with Hermanas Mirabal, and the Jacobo Majluta bridge near the entrance of Los Guaricanos.
The Sánchez highway bridge will be partially closed on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the closure will be at the overpasses (dry bridges) of Padre Castellanos Avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, Prolongación 27 de Febrero with Autopista 6 de Noviembre; the overpasses of Winston Churchill Avenue with John F. Kennedy (both directions).
Also, the Ramón Matías Mella, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridges, the 6 de Noviembre highway bridge, and the control center for the Las Américas, 27 de Febrero and Ortega y Gasset tunnels.
On Saturday, February 24, there will be closures at the overpasses on the John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9) and on San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela Avenue.
