Organizations join the COE in operations for Holy Week 2023

SANTO DOMINGO.– The Ministries of Tourism and Defense, the National Police, and other institutions will support the preventive operation “Conscience for Life Holy Week 2023,” which will be deployed by the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) nationwide.

For this event, led by the Tourism Cabinet and coordinated by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the surveillance agencies will provide all available personnel to guarantee the safety of citizens and tourists who choose rivers, beaches, resorts and mountains for their vacations during the Holy Week holiday.

Collado expressed his gratitude for the support of the military organizations that "as a single body they safeguard the security of our country and that is a clear sign of their concern for the safety of the people.".

He said that, just like last year, he will tour the tourist areas with the surveillance agencies and the National Police to ensure everything is in order on the beaches, for the safety of vacationers.

He asked the population to comply with the resolution ordering the closure of beaches and resorts, in order to preserve safety and avoid tragic events at this time of year.

Likewise, the head of Mitur reiterates the prohibition on beaches throughout the country of the use of motorcycles, four wheels and motor vehicles, as well as wave runners and banana boats, as well as the establishment of tents and the sale of alcoholic beverages by street vendors within the beaches and in resorts.

For his part, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, reported that the Armed Forces have worked diligently to collaborate in this operation, which includes all the necessary measures to prevent and respond to any eventuality that may arise during the Holy Week holiday.

He stated that they will work in a coordinated manner with the Ministry of Tourism, the Presidency of the Republic, the National Police, Civil Defense, among other institutions to provide support and collaboration to the COE.

Díaz Morfa invited tourists and citizens to cooperate in order to follow the measures established by the operation, as well as asking members of the security agencies to act with moderation and prudence for the well-being of all.
