SANTO DOMINGO.-The Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) announced this Friday that it is preparing to begin a new phase of institutional relaunch this coming Sunday, April 26, after reporting that it will start along the 27 de Febrero Corridor, one of the most important and busiest corridors in Greater Santo Domingo.
"This new phase will not only bring renovated buses. It will also incorporate an innovative component that will transform the way thousands of Dominicans access public transportation, especially in a context where the cost of fuel and daily expenses are increasingly putting pressure on family budgets," the entity explained in a press release.
OMSA said it will offer all the details of this transformation on Sunday, aimed at providing more comfortable, modern, integrated and economical mobility for users.
He explained that the February 27 Corridor impacts tens of thousands of passengers daily, connecting strategic areas of Santo Domingo West, the National District and Santo Domingo East.
According to recent tests and estimates by the entity, this corridor can move between 35 and 75 buses at peak time, with a capacity of up to 90 passengers per unit, which represents a flow of more than 6,000 people per hour in its most critical sections.
The first phase marks the beginning
This first phase, the institution stated, marks the beginning of a more modern, functional OMSA, closer to the real needs of the people, with a vision that not only seeks to improve the service, but also makes it easier for citizens to travel further, with greater comfort and less impact on their wallets.
The February 27th Corridor begins in the Induveca area, near the Manoguayabo road, and runs along the entire avenue until it reaches the Hípica Avenue, near the V Centenario Hippodrome, consolidating itself as a strategic axis of urban mobility in Greater Santo Domingo.
He said that at the start of this new phase, he will announce the details of this transformation, how its integration with other transportation systems will work, and what it will mean for the thousands of Dominicans who travel daily along this important corridor.
