SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Institute of Land Transportation (INTRANT) and the Mayor's Office of the National District informed the civil works construction sector this Thursday that they will not issue public use permits in the central area for Friday, November 29, due to the Black Friday celebration.
In a statement published on social media, state entities explain that the objective of the measure is to guarantee an adequate flow of traffic during that day, to avoid possible disruptions to mobility during the weekend.
“This document informs the civil works construction sector that, in coordination with the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTRANT), the decision was made not to issue permits for the use of public space in the Central Polygon for Friday, November 29th of this year, due to the Black Friday celebration, with the objective of guaranteeing an adequate flow of traffic during this day. This measure is to avoid possible disruptions to mobility during the weekend,” the document states.
In recent years, the Dominican commercial sector has offered various deals during the month of November to attract buyers, taking advantage of Black Friday, a tradition that began in the United States and has spread throughout the world.
The Mayor's Office of the National District and INTRANT regretted any inconvenience this measure may cause and thanked everyone in advance for their understanding and cooperation in ensuring better traffic flow during those days when the streets are crowded with people taking advantage of the offers.
