The government plans to deliver it in February 2025.
The construction of the first stage of the perimeter fence , whose total investment will cost the government RD$ 2,388,410,938.92, of which RD$ 1,944,304,856.24 has already been executed, is 84% complete.
This was confirmed by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, during a tour of the border provinces together with the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, to supervise the work.
“The purpose of this tour of the border provinces is to monitor the progress of the first phase of the perimeter fence construction, launched by President Luis Abinader. Overall, construction is more than 80% complete, and what we seek with this strategic project is to redefine border security, promoting stability, as well as the economic and social development of the provinces,” he emphasized.
The border wall is being developed in the provinces of Montecristi, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia and Pedernales, which border the boundary between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, with a total investment of RD 2,388,410,938.92, of which RD 1,944,304,856.24 has already been executed.

In that regard, Paliza stated that the government plans to deliver the project by February 2025 and that its objective is to strengthen border security and guarantee the protection of resources and citizens in border areas. He also announced that the second phase, which could reach a length of up to 110 km.
During the supervisory tour, it was reported that in the province of Elías Piña the work was 100% complete ; in Montecristi and Dajabón the work is 98% complete ; in Pedernales 97% complete , and in Independencia 40% complete
