SANTO DOMINGO.-The General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), in coordination with the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), inaugurated a new lane on Ortega y Gasset Avenue, specifically in the section between Gustavo Mejía Ricart Avenue and Padre Fantino Falco Street, with the aim of improving mobility and reducing traffic congestion on this important road in the National District.
This intervention is part of the strategies implemented by both institutions to fulfill the Dominican government's sustainable mobility policies. The measure involves increasing the number of operational lanes, which will allow for smoother traffic flow and a significant improvement in vehicle traffic management.
The director of Digesett, General Pascual Cruz Méndez, PN, emphasized that this action responds to the needs of a constantly growing city, prioritizing the functionality of public spaces and traffic management. He also noted that these types of measures are the result of collaborative work with Intrant and the institution's commitment to the public.
“This reorganization not only increases the road capacity of one of the main arteries of the urban center, but also positively impacts the mobility of thousands of drivers and pedestrians who travel through this area daily,” said General Cruz Méndez.
During the operation, Digesett agents were present to guide drivers, ensure compliance with the new regulations, and facilitate users' adaptation to the new traffic system. Additionally, supervision and technical assessments were carried out to ensure that the road improvements maintained compliance with established standards.
