Nearly 350 real estate agents participate in AEI Certification

SANTO DOMINGO- Around 350 real estate agents interested in becoming certified in that profession are participating this week in the training course developed by the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI), aimed at new brokers.

During the opening of CBR01, the president of the entity, Alberto Bogaert, stated that more than 2,000 certificates have been awarded by the entity in the last two years, after highlighting the effort carried out by the association in order to contribute to further strengthening the profession.

He highlighted the level of the training program, in which experienced professionals who have developed their careers participate and share their knowledge and testimonies with the participants.

“The quality is evident in the companies where our graduates work. We have compiled a list of the best in their respective fields. It's a wealth of high-level information,” Bogaert explained.

The president of the AEI urged real estate agents who have been in the sector for a long time to enroll in the course, to revitalize their business with the knowledge gained there, given that the real estate industry is constantly changing "and we have to keep up, otherwise we will be left behind.".

“Do what each of the experts says, real estate is a business that, if you dedicate time to it, will do well,” Bogaert concluded.

Attitude, behavior and technique

Ilonka Castillo opened the training session by offering wise advice to the attendees. "One of the most important things is your attitude, behavior, and technique—mind, body, and spirit," she emphasized.

“Buying a property is a complex process, which is why people seek advice. It is the responsibility of the real estate agent to stay up-to-date; there are changes every day in engineering, technology, and finance, and the more trained we are, the better we will do our job,” he reflected.

He called on real estate agents to frequently reflect on the things they can improve.

“Many people,” he explained, “want to enter the real estate sector, to be independent, but that doesn’t mean we lack discipline. There’s nothing more satisfying than helping someone find or sell their home. You can have unlimited income; that’s one of the great advantages of the sector, but the harsh reality is that 80% don’t last more than two years,” he concluded.

He advised real estate agents that even if they work from home, they should dress every day as if they were going to work on the street.

“Demand your commission, make the client aware of the importance of your work. Make them understand that you are doing them harm when you charge, for example, 2% because you are limiting your colleagues, because this is a profession of always being allies.”.

Castillo believes that lead generation is the most important job of a broker and that therefore it is necessary to constantly generate leads to sell or rent, especially high-impact properties.

He recommended that real estate professionals plan their finances at least six months in advance if they want to stay afloat. “It takes 90 days to close a transaction, from start to finish. Plan ahead, and if you implement everything you're learning today, you'll reap many successes.”.
