The Eco-Bahia Foundation was recognized in the most recent edition of the National Tourism Award, for its commitment to sustainable development and its work in favor of the care and preservation of the environment.
The award was received by Álex Matás, director of the foundation in the country, in a ceremony that brought together authorities from the political sector, businessmen, entrepreneurs and representatives of organizations linked to tourism.
“This recognition fills us with pride and, above all, motivates us to continue working towards a tourism that not only enjoys nature, but also respects and protects it. At the Eco-Bahia Foundation, we firmly believe that sustainability is the path to ensuring the future of our ecosystems and the communities that depend on them,” the executive stated.
With a presence in the Dominican Republic since 2023, and more than 25 years of experience in other destinations where Grupo Piñero operates, the Eco-Bahia Foundation has consolidated a responsible tourism model in the country that combines conservation, ecological restoration and environmental education, explains a press release.
Among its main contributions, the Foundation cites the protection of more than 1,700 baby sea turtles and the development of awareness programs that have reached thousands of children, young people, and visitors in the eastern region. The Foundation has also promoted purposeful tourism experiences that involve visitors in conservation efforts.
He adds that these efforts are complemented by ecosystem restoration projects and strategic alliances with national institutions, consolidating a model in which tourism and sustainability advance hand in hand.
"This recognition reaffirms Eco-Bahía as a regional benchmark in responsible and regenerative tourism, consolidating Grupo Piñero's vision of promoting a tourism model that drives development while respecting biodiversity and the social environment of the destinations where it operates," the press release concludes.
