SANTIAGO.- More than 4,000 people will benefit and have their own roof for the first time, through the "Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque" project in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, a project that includes 1,200 apartments for families at risk.
The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) is in charge of developing the project that boosts the economy of the construction sector by generating more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the northern zone, the state agency assures.
The head of MIVHED, Carlos Bonilla, toured the housing project to inspect the progress of the work, which is divided into three lots with a total of 150 buildings, apartments with three bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living-dining room, kitchen and balcony.
The project also includes green, recreational and sports areas.
During the tour, Bonilla indicated that the supervision work carried out by the institution is designed to ensure compliance with the work plan of the projects, as well as to validate the quality standards in construction to guarantee a safe space for the families who will reside in the building.
He assured that the Government is carrying out this project to respond to people at risk who reside on the banks of the Gurabo Stream in 14 communities, whose spaces will also be intervened under a sanitation plan developed by the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA).
