SANTO DOMINGO.-According to Sunday's report from the Emergency Operations Center (COE), some 1,583 homes have been affected by the tropical disturbance that has impacted the country this weekend, and whose accumulated water exceeded the predictions of the institutions linked to the issue.
In its report of November 19, the COE detailed that six homes were affected, 17 destroyed; 7,915 people were moved to safe areas; six roads were affected, 29 communities were cut off, one overpass was affected, and 10 people were in a shelter.
Regarding electricity, Edesur reported 47 affected circuits; 377,782 affected users, for a total of 37.92%.
Authorities recommend that operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels, as well as first responders, strictly adhere to the restriction contained in the National Meteorological Office's marine report.
Provinces on alert
Due to the tropical disturbance, the COE maintains a red alert in Pedernales, Barahona, San José de Oca, Independencia, San Cristóbal, Sánchez Ramírez, Santo Domingo province, Duarte, especially the Lower Yuna; San Juan, Azua, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, Peravia, National District, for a total of 14.
In yellow are Dajabón, La Vega, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monseñor Nouel, Espaillat, Monte Plata, Samaná, El Seibo, La Romana, for a total of 11. While in green are Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata, Santiago and La Altagracia, for a total of five.
Stormwater system
The National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (Inapa) reported that 76 aqueducts are out of service due to heavy rains, affecting 1,315,232 users.
Meanwhile, the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD) reports that three surface water source aqueduct systems are out of service, affecting approximately 149,835 homes in the National District, Los Alcarrizos, and Pedro Brand, with a population of 480,000.
