SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close a total of 43 structures to vehicular traffic from Monday, October 30th until Saturday, November 4th, in order to carry out conditioning work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
This Monday, the closure affects the long tunnel on 27 de Febrero Avenue (between Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill Avenues), the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel; the overpasses or dry bridges of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, with Independencia, and with George Washington, as well as Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela road.
Also, the Jacobo Majluta bridge, and the overpasses on the Duarte Highway at Los Beisbolistas Avenue (entrance to Manoguayabo), and the Duarte Highway at Monumental Avenue (entrance to Los Girasoles). All are completely closed.
This Tuesday, the overpasses or dry bridges at kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, kilometer 13 with República de Colombia, kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway, and 27 de Febrero with Avenida Tiradentes will be closed.
Similarly, on Tuesday there will be a total closure on the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Duarte street (Los Alcarrizos), and Luperón with 30 de Mayo, Charles de Gaulle with the highway to San Isidro and with the Mella road.
On Wednesday, the closures affect the Gregorio Luperón and Ozama bridges, the overpasses of Ortega y Gasset Avenue with 27 de Febrero, Máximo Gómez with Juan Pablo Duarte (dry bridge), the Máximo Gómez overpass with Nicolas de Ovando, and the Ortega y Gasset tunnel.
Also, to the control centers of the tunnels of Ortega y Gasset Avenue (UASD), the one of Las Américas, as well as 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill.
On Thursday, there will be a complete closure of the overpasses at the intersection of Sánchez Highway and Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12), as well as those at the intersection of the Quinto Centenario Expressway and Duarte Avenue, Hermanos Pinzón Avenue, and San Martín Avenue. Also closed will be the underpass at the intersection of Konrad Adenauer Avenue (Charles de Gaulle Avenue) and Hermanas Mirabal Avenue, the Jacobo Majluta Bridge (near the entrance to Guaricano), and the overpass at the intersection of Duarte Highway and Sánchez Street (Piedra Blanca de Bonao).
On Friday, the following roads will be closed: the 6 de Noviembre highway bridge, the underpass or dry bridges of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with the 6 de Noviembre highway, Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, the Ramón Matías Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridges, the Sánchez road, the Churchill with Kennedy (South-West) overpasses, Kennedy with Churchill (East-South) overpasses, as well as the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD).
On Saturday, the overpasses or dry bridges of Kennedy with Luperón (Kilometer 9), Kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, Kilometer 13 of the Duarte with República de Colombia, Kilometer 14 of the Duarte, and San Vicente de Paul with Venezuela will be closed.
The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) apologizes to the public, especially to drivers who travel through these structures, but assures that the work to be carried out will result in greater efficiency of vehicular traffic.
