Lawyer Randolfo Rijo Gómez is the interim and honorary director of Intrant, appointed by decree

SANTO DOMINGO.-After accepting the resignation of Hugo Veras, President Luis Abinader appointed Colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez as executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), on an interim basis and with an honorary title.

The measure is contained in Executive Decree 578-23 and establishes that the new designation is in addition to his position as Executive Director of the National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1.

On November 9, Hugo Veras requested a leave of absence without pay from President Abinader, following questions raised about the contracting process for the traffic light system in Greater Santo Domingo, where the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) said it found irregularities.

In his request, the director of Intrant stated that “the recent information given through the media leads me to side with the DGCP, in order to facilitate this entire investigation process, so I have decided to take a leave of absence without pay and I have notified the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.”.
