SANTO DOMINGO.-The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), with the support of Digesett and the Mayor's Office of the National District, is carrying out an extensive supervision and inspection operation this Wednesday in the streets of Naco, Piantini, Serrallés and Ensanche Paraíso, as part of the Parquéate Bien program, to improve traffic flow and guarantee road safety.
During the day, special attention is paid to poorly parked cargo vehicles due to the level of obstruction they represent, but above all because of the danger they pose to the safety of other road users.
Also, with the use of technology, possible scenarios that put the lives of citizens at risk or that obstruct traffic are evaluated, implementing the appropriate solutions.
The operation is primarily focused on addressing the persistent problem of illegally parked vehicles that obstruct traffic in these high-mobility and commercial activity areas, and is comprised of technical staff from Intrant specializing in traffic and mobility issues, as well as from its Directorate of Supervision and Control of Road Sanctions and agents from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Safety (Digesett).
A press release explains that the operation has the support of neighborhood associations, whose concerns were heard before and during the operation, and also includes verification that the constructions carried out in those sectors have the proper permit and comply with the protocol to avoid risks regarding the road safety of citizens who move and travel in the area.
He adds that the team of inspectors is strategically deployed on the main streets of those sectors, identifying and penalizing drivers who violate parking regulations and obstruct public roads.
In that regard, the inspection and supervision team is conducting patrols through the streets of Naco, Piantini, Serrallés and Ensanche Paraíso, with the proper oversight of Digesett, towing the badly parked vehicles with cranes.
In the case of the construction work in that sector, where trucks and dump trucks were obstructing the road, members of the Intrant Supervision and Control Department are sharing educational and enforcement measures to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of respecting parking rules and their impact on urban mobility.
Both the Digesett agents and the members of the Department of Supervision and Control were provided with the technological tools to carry out the work.
These actions are part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness about the need for responsible behavior on public roads, the organization says.
"Intrant hopes that these interventions will not only improve traffic flow, but also promote a culture of respect for traffic regulations.".
The press release explains that the parking rules are applicable on any street and highway in the country, in compliance with article 237 of Law 63-17.
