SANTO DOMINGO.–The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) announced yesterday, Wednesday, the start of the National Program for the Regularization of IAD Land Occupations, aimed at individuals and legal entities that maintain irregular occupations on land owned by the institution.
According to the entity, the measure is part of the restructuring and institutional strengthening stage that the organization is developing, in accordance with Law No. 5879 on Agrarian Reform and its modifications.
In a press release, the institution explained that the program excludes landowners from the Agrarian Reform who hold provisional titles issued by the IAD in various peasant settlements. These landowners will be included in the National Program for Definitive Land Titling, announced on December 5, 2025.
According to the guidelines cited in the document, applicants must submit evidence of occupancy time, such as sworn statements from the occupant and neighbors or local authorities, as well as photographs, videos, and other supporting documentation. Documentation regarding crops or livestock raised on the land, loan certifications related to those activities, and proof of improvements made will also be required.
The institution added that the process includes authorization for the IAD to conduct a technical survey to verify the occupation, agricultural or livestock use, and the applicant's direct connection to the plot.
Applications will be accepted from Monday, January 12th to Friday, January 17th of this year, through the portal regularizacion.iad.gob.do. After this deadline, the IAD reserves the right to take legal action regarding lands that have not been regularized.
