Plan International Dominican Republic and the La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association signed a collaboration agreement to promote the actions of the TUI Academy project, whose objective is to promote the social, economic and personal empowerment of adolescents and young people at risk of commercial sexual exploitation in tourism.
The La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association will contribute to the project by providing staff time to act as mentors for students at the TUI Academy.

Likewise, the first group of students from the academy in La Romana province will be able to complete up to three months of internships with a 60% job guarantee for as many graduates as possible, depending on their performance and the hotels' availability.
Through this agreement, the impact of the project, which has been implemented since 2016 by Plan International Dominican Republic through a public-private partnership with financial support from the TUI Care Foundation, will be extended to develop and promote a model of job training and life skills for young people aged 18 to 24 from vulnerable communities.
The AHRB will adhere to the principles of decent work when providing internships and/or jobs to TUI Academy students.
The internship includes an agreement between the employer and the student, a contribution to provide transportation and food expenses, a contribution of RD$3,000.00 per intern, clear learning objectives and advice related to their internship, health insurance coverage, safety and protection in the workplace and in transportation to and from work.
Young people who are formally employed will be provided with a contract between the employer and the employee, at least the minimum wage, reasonable working hours and shifts, equal pay, social security and sickness insurance coverage, and safety and protection in the workplace and on transport to and from work
TUI Academy was created to provide employment opportunities to young people, especially women, at risk of commercial sexual exploitation in areas of tourist boom.
