Government promotes sustainable tourism in Luperón

The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, toured Luperón Bay yesterday to assess the current situation of this important tourist and fishing area.

The official indicated that the Government is working on updating a series of laws and decrees that will allow the implementation of actions that will guarantee the protection of the bay's ecosystem resources and the sustainable development of the area.

The minister also reported that the Dominican Republic Navy has begun the legal process to remove the neglected and abandoned vessels, which represents an important step towards the restoration of the site.

“We are going to help organize the bay within the framework of the law that is being promoted, to ensure that the visitor experience is comparable to that of other tourist destinations. This effort seeks to attract a constant flow of visitors, balancing the quantity and density of activities in the area,” he said.

During his tour of the municipality of Luperón, Paliza also held a meeting with the Co-Management Refuge organization to listen to the concerns and demands of its members, representing the community members of this town.
