SANTO DOMINGO WEST– The Ministry of Housing and Buildings today delivered vouchers covering up to 60% of the total cost of the units to a group of families in Hato Nuevo in this municipality, who are part of the beneficiaries of the housing project being built by the Government within the "My Home" plan, which aims to complete more than 7,000 apartments in Santiago and Santo Domingo.
Minister Carlos Bonilla visited the construction site to oversee its progress. The project is scheduled for completion in 2022. The beneficiary families will have up to 20 years to pay off the remaining cost of their homes.
Among the beneficiaries who signed their contracts today and received the housing bonus are Mr. Basilio Sánchez Reynoso, an independent driver; as well as Karina Sención, a medical and imaging student, and María Isabel Alcántara, a secretary, who expressed their happiness and gratitude to MIVED and President Luis Abinader for the opportunity to own their own home.

In Santo Domingo Oeste, Hato Nuevo has 440 two-bedroom units and 1,800 three-bedroom units. Both designs include a living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, and balcony. These units comprise a total of 2,240 apartments that will help address the housing shortage for vulnerable families.
“These projects are intended for all citizens, without requiring any contact with the government to benefit. We want Dominican families to have their dream of owning their first home fulfilled; we are creating a better future for everyone,” the Minister stated.
In addition to the Hato Nuevo project in the city of Santo Domingo, the Ministry of Housing and Buildings is constructing housing projects in Ciudad Modelo and San Luis; while in the northern zone the La Barranquita and Los Salados projects are being carried out.
