Government delivers 144 apartments for the relocation of families from the Guajimía ravine

SANTO DOMINGO WEST - President Luis Abinader yesterday delivered the remaining 144 apartments, out of a total of 344 , intended for the relocation of families displaced from the Guajimía ravine storm and sanitation project

The governor presented the keys to one of the families, representing all those who received apartments. The project encompasses 5.4 kilometers of ravine and its tributaries. These works are being carried out by the Helios Group, under the direction of the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD).

At the event, the director of Caasd, Fellito Suberví, highlighted the importance of the intervention in the Guajimía ravine, which will benefit more than 350,000 people in the surrounding areas, including the tributaries El Indio, Buenos Aires, La Ureña, Los Olivos and Las Caobas.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to say that no previous government had taken the ravines into account, and in this administration, led by President Luis Abinader, we surveyed and designed 105 kilometers of open-air ravines. Today we can say that we have worked on 42 kilometers, while previous administrations only worked on 6 kilometers, focusing mainly on cleaning these waterways,” Suberví stated.

The Guajimía VI residential project is located at the corner of 15th Street and Conexión A Street in Hato Nuevo, Santo Domingo Oeste. The development includes seven two-bedroom buildings (Module II) and four three-bedroom buildings (Module III), for a total of 144 apartments. The two-bedroom buildings comprise 112 units, each with an area of ​​49 square meters. These apartments feature a living room, kitchen, dining room, balcony, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry area.

Present were the governor of the province of Santo Domingo, Lucrecia Leyba; Senator Antonio Taveras; the vice minister of the Ministry of the Presidency, Scarlet Benzán; the mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, and the mayor of Los Alcarrizos, Junior Santos; the director of National Assets and honorary director of the CEA, Rafael Burgos; the director of the National Cadastre, Héctor Mirambeaux, and the director of the DIDA, Elías Báez; the director of Community Development, Modesto Guzmán, as well as the deputies, Sandro Sánchez and Aldo Adón.
