SANTO DOMINGO- For real estate agents, there will always be opportunities to do business, because through their work one of the basic needs of every human being is fulfilled, such as housing.
This is the view of Rafael González and Paola Simó, from Cabin Brokers, who understand that the real estate market is full of opportunities for those who join the profession to excel in a particular area, thus advocating for specialization within the field.
The couple, both real estate advisors, shared a list of real estate tips last night, within the framework of the CBR 02 Certification, carried out by the AEI, Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies, aimed at beginners and people who wish to strengthen their knowledge in the field of real estate.

Identifying the market niche you want to specialize in and being willing to learn everything about it is one of the suggestions offered by experts who have been part of the Dominican Republic's real estate market for eleven years. "What we can't do is sell low-cost properties to people who want a property in Evaristo Morales because they are different languages.".
They cited the multiple market niches that represent options for agents to practice: first home, low cost, second home, rentals, the commercial area and its load of sub-categories, investors, administration, among many others, while urging new agents to locate where they feel comfortable because it will "allow them to project what they are passionate about.".
A second recommendation they make to agents is that they learn everything related to the area they are drawn to, identify the type of advertising through which they will promote their work and properties, know the profile of their client, "read everything that can help you in the process because there is always something to learn, never get tired of learning, everything evolves and you have to have an attitude towards learning.".
They urge focusing on the niche and understanding all its properties, the construction companies, and their history, as this will contribute to security. "A specialized agent is a successful agent," they both reflected.
They reviewed the history of their company, now dedicated to mountain tourism from Jarabacoa, where they arrived at the very beginning of the pandemic, a decision they now describe as a blessing, given the good results they have reaped, with the flourishing of their agency.
Regarding the topic of second homes, agents are advised, when consulting with investors, to take into account the facilities and services offered by that area, because this will determine the demand, and greater demand means greater profitability, which is what investors are looking for.
They emphasized that many people are coming to the country to live out their retirement permanently, in a safe, peaceful environment with diverse attractions. “Some people who live in cold climates seek mountains, others seek warm climates; and that has also helped to energize the market,” said Paola Simó.
They referred to the boom of the Airbnb platform and the multiple business opportunities offered by this short-term rental model, through which new business opportunities are achieved.
