Let's look at the second part of the decorating trends published by the Spanish magazine El Mueble, which we share with our readers.
Rounded shapes
The bold will continue to be fashionable in 2023. "We will see curves and organic shapes, both in semicircular arches and walls without edges as well as in pieces of furniture," Coblonal points out.
"Thanks to the sinuous and enveloping designs, the rooms are filled with dynamism," says interior designer Laura Martínez.
Wooden furniture
The quintessential material for creating spaces that convey warmth, well-being, and a connection with nature will also be a key player in 2023. Franquet Barrau is focusing on walnut and oak furniture. "They are two very versatile, robust, resistant, durable, and aesthetically pleasing varieties," they point out.
Natural stones
Throughout 2023, natural stone will continue to be a trend. "It combines robustness and durability with great beauty. Furthermore, it adds character and personality to spaces and, above all, great versatility, as we have a wide variety available: granite, limestone, sandstone, slate, marble…," says Franquet Barrau.
And of all the trends, Coblonal Interiorisme highlights the resurgence of travertine marble. "And not just in wet areas, like bathrooms or kitchens, but we'll see it in flooring and wall coverings in other rooms of the house.".
Art Deco Inspiration
Art Deco is making a strong comeback in 2023 with details that will help us create stylish and elegant spaces. "We can include moldings, black and white lacquered elements, touches of bronze or gold, pops of bright colors…," says Laura.
Handmade items, a rising value
As Coblonal aptly points out, craftsmanship is the new luxury. A luxury that has nothing to do with ostentatious aesthetics, glitter, or excessive combinations, but rather with a return to the artisanal, to the authentic.
This trend, which began to emerge tentatively a couple of seasons ago, favors handmade pieces, natural materials, and irregular, imperfect finishes. And it's not just about ceramics. It also includes wooden furniture, handwoven rugs, natural fibers…
Terrazzo flooring, a trend that's making a comeback
The commitment to recovering elements of traditional architecture and giving them a contemporary look places terrazzo among the top materials that will be trending in 2023. "Terrazzo is resurging with new, more ecological, resistant and durable versions, as well as a more youthful and minimalist look," notes Franquet Barrau.
