The prominent Spanish magazine El Mueble consulted three interior designers about the decorating trends for 2023, which El Inmobiliario digital shares with you:
1. EARTH COLORS WILL BE A TREND IN 2023
It's one of the clearest trends. In 2023, earth tones (from beige to brown, including terracotta and copper) will be the preferred palette for decorating our homes. "Browns, smoky shades, taupe, cinnamon, coffee, mink, paprika, cognac, rust... These are tones that inspire warmth and authenticity. And to create contrast, touches of Klein blue," notes the experts at Coblonal.
2. AND DARK SHADES, TOO
In addition to a palette of soft, warm tones like white, beige, nude, and sand, 2023 will see dark colors. "And not just in accessories or furniture. Walls, floors, and ceilings will be painted black or very dark shades of brown, burgundy, gray... It may seem like a risky choice, but when done well, it allows you to create elegant and very chic spaces," says Laura Martínez.
3. TEXTILES TAKE CENTER STAGE
The trend towards creating calm and serene spaces led us to decorate our homes with plain textiles in very soft, neutral tones. Well, it seems that something is changing (albeit very subtly). "Along with plain fabrics, we're going to see a gradual return of prints in both curtains and cushions. Living rooms and bedrooms will be transformed thanks to fabrics that will add complexity with their textures, prints, colors, and pleats," say the interior designers at Coblonal.
And what patterns will we see most often? "From geometric designs to floral motifs that bring us life and a connection to nature, so necessary these days," says the Franquet Barrau team.
4. WE WILL MIX WARM AND COOL TONES
As Franquet Barrau points out, it seems we won't be able to avoid playing with warm and cool colors. "Beiges, browns, and off-whites add warmth. With touches of blue or green, the decor will gain elegance and sophistication.".
5. 100% NATURAL LOOK
Why not bring country style to the city? With this question, Laura Martínez points out that in 2023 we will witness a clear trend towards romantic and extremely welcoming decor. "And above all, respectful of and loving of nature. Light tones and natural elements will predominate in these homes," says the interior designer.
6. WARM MINIMALISM, ALSO IN 2023
Warm minimalism will continue to be a trend this year. Uncluttered spaces with few but carefully chosen pieces are in, prioritizing order, simplicity, and functionality.
“The goal is to create welcoming environments, in perfect harmony and coherence, that lead us to a sense of calm. To achieve this, we've opted for a mix of the best of Scandinavian and Japanese design. White is the dominant color, along with neutral and beige tones, furniture with clean lines, and natural materials like wood and plant fibers. And plants, of course, real ones, are essential for achieving this balance,” explains Laura Martínez.
