At least four people have been reported injured after a Red Air plane from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, caught fire after making an emergency landing at Miami International Airport.
According to television channel WSVN, the people sustained minor injuries, although two of them were taken to the hospital.
It is unknown whether the injured are among the 140 passengers or the 11 crew members who were on board the ship.
Flight 203 made an emergency landing at around 5:30 p.m. this Tuesday at the terminal, apparently with problems in the landing gear, which caused a fire in the aircraft.
"It is unknown whether the landing gear problems occurred before or when it landed," the Miami television station says.
The plane collided with several objects and veered into the grassy area between the runway and taxiway near Northwest 57th Avenue in Miami.
“The aircraft destroyed a communications/radar tower that was in its path, along with a small building in the area. The tower could be seen wrapping around the right wing of the aircraft, where the fire also extended,” WSVN says.
Firefighters used foam trucks to fully control the fire.
