SANTO DOMINGO.-Economist and financial educator Gabriel González Florentino, known as "The Youtuber Economist", was recognized as "Honorary Ambassador of Short Rents" during the first Strategic Gala of Short Rents of the Dominican Republic, an event organized by the Dominican Association of Short Rents and sponsored by the Airbnb Community Leaders Center.
The gala marked the end of a historic year for tourism in the Dominican Republic, where the record of 11 million visitors was surpassed, consolidating its position as a leading tourist destination in the region, and anticipated new developments and important events for 2025, according to a press release.
The document explains that the meeting brought together leading professionals from the sector, including international guests from the United States, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica, highlighting the growing importance of short-term rentals in the national tourism landscape.
In addition, the event included an environmental awareness day together with the Vida Azul Foundation, where participants carried out a beach cleanup as part of the sector's commitment to sustainability, the press release adds.

Gabriel González Florentino, the main speaker, highlighted in his speech the importance of professionalizing the business and how short-term rentals have become a key opportunity to generate additional income in the context of an expanding tourism market.

In line with this recognition and the sector's growth, Gabriel announced the upcoming launch of a new edition of his mentorship program, "The Airbnb Method." This initiative aims to continue supporting Dominicans interested in capitalizing on the opportunities offered by the short-term rental market, contributing to the country's economic and tourism development.
