Domicem will invest $9 billion in expanding its second production line

SANTO DOMINGO.- Domicen, a cement producer, will expand its production line with an investment of more than 9 billion pesos, with which it intends to double its capacity to produce the material and, with it, increase the number of jobs.

“This year will be very important for us, because we are working on our expansion with a second production line,” said Adriano Brunetti, administrator of Domicem.

He stated that the company stands out for its large investments in the Dominican Republic and for being a "solid source" of jobs, with more than 500 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs.

Rafael Hernández, the plant director, explained that the clinker production line has a capacity of 900,000 tons per year and 1,500,000 tons of cement.

In a press release, the company highlights that it has been operating in the country for 17 years, during which time it has become "one of the top 10 contributors in the country" in terms of taxes paid to the Dominican State, which is estimated to be almost 3 billion pesos this year.

The company held various activities to commemorate the occasion, including a thanksgiving mass, led by Bishop Victor Masalles and the parish priest of Sabana Grande de Palenque, Yovanny Arias, which was attended by company executives and employees, as well as residents of the community.
