The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, was recognized as an "Adopted Son of Cabrera" for his contributions to the growth and development of tourism in the municipality.
The resolution, in a single article, was read by the president of the municipal Chapter Chamber, Nereyda Abreu, in the presence of the municipal mayor Marlon Angel Arias, members of the Council of Aldermen and other mayors of the María Trinidad Sánchez province, last Sunday.
"Mr. David Collado Morales, as Minister of Tourism, has given our municipality great support from this Ministry that favors our growth in the tourism sector, and therefore, in our municipality," states one of the considerations of the resolution.
Collado expressed his honor and pride in receiving the distinction from a town with such great tourist potential as Cabrera, which he said he holds dear in his heart, and which motivates him to continue bringing development with projects that guarantee more security, employment, and recreation to every corner of the country.
This recognition took place amidst the celebration of the first edition of the Cabrera Food Festival, inaugurated by the official and the Mayor's Office of this municipality, with the Central Park of this town as the setting.
Mayor Arias, along with other municipal authorities, applauded the promise fulfilled by the Minister of Tourism to promote the development of that town and the entire province, in addition to making the first gastronomic festival "Cabrera Food Festival" a reality with the performance of the main exponents of merengue El Prodigio and the Hermanos Rosario.
"El Prodigio" Designated as Tourist Pedestrian Crossing
Prior to the fiery performance on stage by Krency García, "El Prodigio", the resolution of the Municipal Chapter Room was read, declaring that the tourist pedestrian walkway dedicated to traditional music, recently inaugurated by Collado at a cost exceeding 9 million pesos, would be named after him.
This route includes Duarte Street up to Lorenzo Alvarez Street in front of the new boardwalk of the coastal town.
Meanwhile, the new boardwalk in Cabrera, inaugurated last November, was built at a cost exceeding 73 million pesos.
Collado is recognized for the second consecutive year in this northeastern municipality, having been honored last year by the municipal council within the framework of the XIII edition of the Cabrera en Primavera Tourist and Agricultural Fair, for his efficient work in favor of tourism and his contribution to the development of the event.
Cabrera Food Festival
Cabrera Food Festival 2023 began this Sunday, October 14th, and will run until October 22nd. It serves as the ideal platform for promoting and selling products and showcasing the gastronomic offerings of the people of Cabrera. More than 20 exhibitors have gathered, including restaurants, fast food vendors, dessert shops, and national and international beverage vendors, among other offerings.
Apart from the varied sale and exhibition of products, throughout the week there will be performances by renowned local groups and artists to bring fun and liven up the festival in its first edition.
