SANTO DOMINGO.- Corvi, a leading company in the manufacture of steel and PVC pipes, with the aim of reducing its environmental impact and improving the energy efficiency of the factory, installed a photovoltaic solar system that generates an average of 1.5 megawatts (MWh).
With this use of solar energy, Corvi will stop emitting one ton of carbon dioxide, thus reducing the company's environmental footprint, according to a company press release.
The use of solar energy in the factory is one of the components of the environmental strategy of Corvi's Sustainability Plan, in order to achieve energy efficiency, proper management of natural resources and care for the environment.
"In conjunction with the photovoltaic energy initiative, Corvi has started a plan to replace 100% of fluorescent lights with LEDs and, with a view to achieving energy efficiency, changes are being made to wiring, installation of devices to reduce the consumption of electric motors (Drivers or Frequency Converters) and automation of equipment to lower electricity consumption.
These strategies are developed under the company's safety guidelines and its policy of always complying with local and international standards and customer expectations.
Corvi thus addresses an increasingly relevant need in our society, namely the care of the environment and awareness of the value of non-renewable resources.
This initiative is part of the company's Sustainability Plan, which has four strategic pillars: Governance, employee relations, community support, and environmental stewardship. This is all in line with its purpose of contributing to the sustainable and responsible growth of the country and the region.
