SANTO DOMINGO- Banco Popular Dominicano received the international Tier III Design certification for its data center located in the Caribbean NAP, making it the only bank in the Dominican Republic to have this endorsement, which confirms that its infrastructure meets the highest standards of functionality and capacity in terms of its engineering and architectural design.
The certification was awarded by Uptime Institute Professional Services. "This achievement demonstrates Banco Popular's leadership in the digital transformation of the country's financial services, for which it has focused on enabling hybrid technology services, both in the cloud and in data centers on its physical premises," the statement said.
Furthermore, the data centers have been certified according to international best practices, thus maximizing their effectiveness in the use of technologies that support the financial organization's business model.
To continue with the strengthening and innovation strategy, Popular has allocated significant sums that will be used in the investment of new technologies that will exceed 8 billion pesos this year.
This Tier III Design certification is based on a rigorous set of criteria that cover mechanical, electrical, structural and physical installation elements, which are reviewed by Uptime Institute experts.

It also asserts that its technology system strategy is well-defined and passes the most rigorous evaluations by external industry experts.
Uptime Institute Professional Services is an independent entity licensed to rate and certify data center designs internationally for more than two decades.
Their certification is based on an independent assessment of the available technology and the suppliers or contractors chosen by the companies being assessed.
Since 2016, Banco Popular's data center has been located in NAP del Caribe, its strategic partner, which is dedicated to offering data center, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, using the most advanced telecommunications infrastructure in the region.
